Another triumph over entertainment mediocrity! This time we teamed up with premier Westchester DJ services esudj.com to provide an evening of outstanding music for a wedding at the Westpoint Military Academy.
THIS SATURDAY, the guitar and sax quartet of the Westchester Jazz Band will be taking time out from its busy schedule to give a free performance a little closer to home: Coffee Labs Roasters on Main Street, Tarrytown, NY 10591! 8-10pm. Prepare to get roasted! Like The Westchester Jazz Band sax trio teed-off proceedings at the Trump International Golf Club in Briarcliff, NY as part of a charity event of the American Diabetes Association. The weather was a little grey and moist outside, but the atmosphere was warm and jazzy inside, and we had a great time playing jazz standards during the pre-dinner drinks. Today the WJB played at a really beautiful location in Ossining, perched over a lake, for an engagement party. After last night's deluge, we wondered if it would still be happening, but thankfully the sun shone all afternoon. Everyone had a great time, the hosts were wonderful and the guitar trio was on top form. And once again, the Subaru's rubber trunk mat saved the day by keeping bass-player Dan Asher's feet dry... We are very pleased to announce a partnership of the Westchester Jazz Band with the amazing New York singer, Susan Tobocman. Samples of her music can be played by clicking on the audio player at the bottom of the preceding website pages, but also check out her youtube video 'taster' below and visit her website www.susantobocman.com If I was planning a party or wedding this summer, I would want Susan singing at it, for sure. Check her OUT!! The Westchester Jazz Band piano and guitar quartet will be working alongside Robert Moschetta of Entertainment and Sounds Unlimited in the Fall for a wedding at Westpoint Military Academy. We are very excited to be part of the evening's entertainment, having worked with Rob before. He's an amazing and unique DJ who often uses live musicians as part of his performance. PHOTO SESSION AND VIDEO RECORDING OF WJB AT THE BASSLINE CLUB, IN MOUNT VERNON NY, 03 APRIL 20144/6/2014
WEDNESDAY EVENING at the Bassline Club, and the Westchester Jazz Band was out, suited and booted, to record an informal public performance of jazz standards on video and employed the services of Marc Santos, (www.marcsantosphotography.com), to do a set of photos to spruce up the website, and for use in promotional material. I am very grateful for the guys in the band for the time they gave and for the help of Darryl Jones and Andrew Swift, who made the evening possible. Click on the video below to hear a sample.
Lee Greene, saxophonist (ex Buddy Rich Big Band, Sinatra - the list is endless) was joined by pianist Alan Eicher (piano) and Dan Asher (double bass) for a last minute booking. Requested tunes included The Prayer by Andrea Bocelli. Another triumph for the band. We look forward to working a lot more with Lee in 2014.
Another successful gig, this time, the opening of a Regal Cinema in Nanuet, NY. We were booked for an hour for the pre-launch party to entertain the cinema industry bods and warm things up before the free screenings. In the band deputising this week, was Dylan Lagamma on bass and the amazing Bob DeVos on guitar. Good times were had by all, and much free popcorn and soda was consumed! We know they'll book us again, cos we went down a treat.... |
