Booking fees, deposit, requirements


For any bookings over 60 minutes, the Westchester Jazz Band has a basic minimum fee of $1574 (inclusive of tax). This consists of the core trio: guitar/piano/sax, bass and drums. You may of course wish to add another saxophone or a trumpet, trombone or perhaps a singer. A discounted fee is negotiable for bookings up to 60 minutes.

Each additional instrument is $524.70, so for a booking over 60 minutes, a quartet would be $2098.70 (inclusive of tax), and a quintet would be $2623.40. A cursory comparison of rates for other function bands on the internet will quickly give you an idea of how competitively priced we are.
Many music agencies will take up to 50% for 'administrative costs', thereby bumping up the overall price to you, and failing to properly pay the musicians they employ. Our administrative fee included in the price above is a fixed $100!

The basic booking fee is for anything over 60 minutes, up to three hours. However, for longer playing times, all-day affairs or multiple day bookings, we would need to negotiate a different price by telephone.

To secure a booking for the band, we require a deposit using paypal, electronic bank transfer or check for $300 for the trio, or an additional $100 per booked instrument. This can be made using the secure PAYPAL payment box below. Please do not make any deposits until you have an email from us confirming the date, time and fee of the gig.

Any date changes or cancellations must be made no less than 4 weeks prior to the original booking date, after which the deposit is non-refundable. The remaining fee is due on the day, to be made in person and before the end of the booking/event. Check, cash or paypal are accepted.

Song Requests
W
e are more than happy to take up to three requests in advance. If the tune is not a jazz standard, this may incur fees. For example, a recent request for a Kenny G tune required purchasing the music charts online, printing and mailing copies for the band members - all of which takes time and money. We charge $20 per tune for this sort of service, just to cover basic costs. For very important requests, such as the First Dance of a wedding celebration, we ask that you give us the details of the song or tune at the time of booking, and definitely no less than 4 weeks before the date. This gives us sufficient time to prepare the musical arrangement for a totally polished rendition.

The provision of parking, instrument storage, access to power-points for amplification, provision of food and a room or area for the band to rest between performances, and required dress-code for the musicians should be discussed by email or call us prior to confirming the booking.
